Notes:

  1. Shared culture doesn’t scale to millions.
  2. Democracy is dead.
  3. Democracy is dead because hierarchy doesn’t scale.
  4. The problem then is much larger than nations, the problem today is hierarchy and all of its manifestations from bureaucracy to nations.
  5. Absolute power corrupts absolutely because in hierarchy all money and resources are controlled by one or the few.
  6. Hierarchy inherently encourages competition not cooperation.
  7. Hierarchy breeds jealousy between hierarchies as those at the top compete to acquire the most money and resources.
  8. Life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness will fail simply based upon scale: the number of people in a hierarchy.
  9. Scailure, failures of scale, means hierarchy can take us no further.
  10. Life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness in the 21st Century then means replacing hierarchy.
  11. Mesh society means Irreni World Scale.
  12. Hierarchy is a hard problem to solve, fortunately Irreni World Scale is ready to go.
  13. Mesh projects involving multiple MGOs provides the general population with general life, liberty and happiness.
  14. Mesh micro-governing organizations of fixed size thirty people, or MGOs, provide individually tailored life, liberty and happiness.

Plenty of academics have written about Nations. This is not that, there are no citations here. No Nation Notes is about what a Nation ideally delivers: life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness. The purpose of these notes is to motivate people to slide on over and engage mesh society as a replacement for hierarchy society. Mesh society is better society for delivering life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness.

The fundamental lie purported by Nationalists is that we want to live in a Nation. No, a Nation is at best a necessity foisted upon us.

A nation then is a necessary evil. What we want is to live in society and a shared culture that we find to our liking. If we’ve learned anything from the late 20th and early 21st century (Note 1) is that shared culture doesn’t scale to a culture with millions.

How do nations, particularly Democracies, deliver on life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness then? First and foremost they are constituted to limit oppression by the rich and powerful. This provides us with the liberty. Second they provide public education, public healthcare and other public services that provide life. Third, in addition to providing public services for life then public services also provide us with opportunity to pursue happiness as is the case with public education.

Democracies today are failing their prime directive to limit oppression by the rich and powerful. This failure equates to failing at delivering the public services for life and pursuit of happiness.

This brings us to today. We are all faced with the same perplexity: how to fix Democracy. Everyone seems to be flummoxed and having at best band-aid solutions. No solution will last the change of a governing party.

Democracy is dead (Note 2). Democracy is dead because hierarchy doesn’t scale (Note 3). Hierarchy encompasses more than no nations, but state and local government. Hierarchy encompasses bureaucracy that is at the heart of corporations, non-profits, and almost all organizations.

The problem then is much larger than nations. The problem today is hierarchy and all its manifestations from bureaucracy to nations (Note 4).

Why doesn’t hierarchy scale? Because hierarchy requires that all money and resource decisions come from the single person or a few at the top. Further hierarchies are pyramid schemes of nested hierarchy. Absolute power corrupts absolutely because in hierarchy all money and resources are controlled by one or the few (Note 5).

Hierarchy inherently encourages competition not cooperation (Note 6). Hierarchy breeds jealousy between hierarchies as those at the top compete to acquire the most money and resources (Note 7).

Therefore life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness will fail simply based upon scale: the number of people in the hierarchy (Note 8).

This scale fail, or scailure, is what is playing out all over the world in Democracies today. The scailure is coming crashing down on us destroying what life, liberty and happiness was previously attained.

Scailure means hierarchy can take us no further (Note 9). These are not just no nation notes then, but no hierarchy notes.

Life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness in the 21st Century then means replacing hierarchy (Note 10). That replacement is mesh society. One such complete implementation is Irreni World Scale. Hereafter mesh society means Irreni World Scale (Note 11).

Good News! Hierarchy has been a staple in societies worldwide for millenia. This is a hard problem to solve. Fortunately for you the replacement for hierarchy is ready to go (Note 12).

How does mesh society work?

Mesh society is comprised of two organizing principles: the micro-governing organization, MGO or mesh node, and projects. There is a management system. However this management system is project zero and managed like any other mesh project.

How does mesh society accomplish life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness better than Democracy?

  1. Projects are experiments that drive social behavior, not ideology. Claims are proven. Ideas stand on their own.
  2. Life is a prime directive of the design of Irreni and a function of projects. More specifically, life goes on. Life must go on until the universe ends. Life must stop the universe from ending. Projects deliver survival goods.
  3. Liberty is a function of belonging to a mesh node or MGO. A mesh node has a fixed size of thirty people. A mesh node is a survival node with a year’s supply of food, energy, and survival needs at all times. Mesh nodes can disengage from projects and management at any time.
  4. Happiness is a function of belonging to a mesh node and the objective of all projects.

Happiness is not bliss. Unhappy people are also ensured to life in mesh society.

Mesh society treats unhappy people much differently than nations. In hierarchy society unhappy people are thrown in prison and to the fullest extent possible, ignored. In mesh society the MGO is the only sovereignty over a your body. The MGO is responsible for the unhappy person’s life, liberty and pursuit of happiness the same as happy people. Ignoring unhappy people is not mesh society. Historically unhappy people we call criminals, drug addicts or just lazy are not studied. Mesh society requires social study and experiments to help the unhappy be happy.

Mesh society then actively works to develop unhappy people to mitigate an unhappy persons’ ability to propagate cruelty and unhappiness on others. This is not the case in hierarchy.

Life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness does have significant components for each individual that can be met with general social programs. However, eventually happiness is personally defined. This is why the sovereign governing body, the micro-governing organization is so small at size thirty people. Thirty people focus on each other to tailor life’s happiness.

Mesh projects involving multiple MGOs provides the general population with general life, liberty and happiness (Note 13). This is analogous to public education and public healthcare today. Mesh society provides individually tailored life, liberty and happiness using MGOs or mesh nodes (Note 14).
